INDIAN COURT CANCELS MUSUMBA & COMPANY CASE

India’s Supreme Court has today cancelled the case against ex-minister Isaac Musumba and two other Ugandans.

The court has ordered police to release immediately the passports of the three Ugandans. The other two are MP Michael Mawanda and businessman Mathew Magoola. They had been charged with extortion on the basis of a complaint by an Indian firm.

The guns have turned on Mumbai Police which has been castigated by court for giving India a bad name.

www.ndtv.com‘s story quotes part of the verdict: “Bombay Police instead of protecting the rights of these foreign nationals filed an FIR* against them and the charges are baseless.”

A ‘First Information Report’ (FIR) is a written document prepared by police organizations in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Japan when they receive information about the commission of a cognizable offence.
